The Role
As our Data Protection and Compliance Assistant, you'll be a key member of the
Legal Team, supporting the organisation's adherence to all relevant data privacy
laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You'll work closely
with the General Counsel and Compliance Officer, as well as various hotel and
central support teams, to manage day-to-day data protection requests and incidents.
This is a crucial role in ensuring the privacy and security of our guests' and
employees' information.
Key Responsibilities
● Manage Data Subject Requests: You will handle all data subject requests
(access, rectification, erasure, and "right to be forgotten"). This includes
tracking requests from start to finish, ensuring timely completion and
compliance with GDPR and other data protection laws.
● Process Law Enforcement Requests: You'll manage and track Data Access
requests from law enforcement agencies, such as the police, ensuring
legitimate requests are fulfilled according to legal protocols.
● Manage Security Breaches: You'll track and manage reported security
breaches from internal teams or external customers, promptly escalating
incidents to the General Counsel and Compliance Officer for mitigation and
prevention.
● Liaise and Collaborate: You'll build and maintain strong relationships with all
hotel departments, central support teams, and senior management to
coordinate responses, gather information, and ensure a unified approach to
data protection.
● Support Licensing Compliance: With the support of the General Counsel,
you'll assist in managing licensing across the portfolio, including premises,
marriage, copyright, and PRS/PPL licensing.
● Manage Legal Invoicing: You'll be responsible for managing the in-house
legal invoicing process.
Person Specification
● A working knowledge of data protection law and practices is essential.
● Methodical and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and
projects concurrently.
● Excellent written and oral communication skills.
● Able to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision to meet
deadlines.
● Flexible, proactive, quick to learn, and possessing a can-do attitude.
