The Role
As Design Team Leader, you'll lead a team of engineers and technicians from the company's regional engineering office on the outskirts of St Helens. You'll oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality temporary works designs within agreed service levels, driving team performance, accuracy, and profitability.
You'll play a key part in mentoring and developing your team, reviewing and checking complex engineering schemes, and working closely with clients, sales, and operational teams to deliver practical, efficient design solutions. The role requires both technical depth and strong leadership, with the ability to manage workloads, inspire growth, and maintain high standards across all engineering outputs.
Key Requirements
4. HND or Degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction-related Engineering.
5. Proven experience in temporary works design (groundworks, formwork, falsework, or propping & jacking).
6. Previous leadership, mentoring, or team management experience.
7. Understanding of relevant design codes, standards, and safety regulations.
8. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
9. Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
10. UK driving licence.
The Package
11. Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
12. Bonus: Up to 7.5% annual performance bonus
13. Pension: 10% employer contribution
14. Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays
15. Hybrid Working: 2 days per week working from home
