We are seeking a skilled French Polisher to join our team and contribute to the restoration and enhancement of fine wood furniture and surfaces. As a French Polisher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of craftsmanship and finishing, reflecting our commitment to excellence. Your expertise will be utilized to restore, repair, and polish a variety of wooden items, catering to both antique and modern pieces. The ability to work meticulously with various polishing techniques, including traditional and contemporary methods, is essential. You will be responsible for assessing the condition of wooden surfaces, determining the appropriate treatment techniques, and using high-quality materials to achieve a flawless finish. Additionally, your work will involve collaborating closely with furniture makers, restorers, and designers to meet the aesthetic and functional requirements of each project. Responsibilities
Perform French polishing on various wooden surfaces and furniture items.
Assess the condition of different wood types and determine the best polishing technique.
Apply shellac and other finishes to achieve a high-quality sheen and protection.
Repair scratches, dents, and other imperfections on wood surfaces.
Work collaboratively with carpenters and restorers to align finishing processes with design specifications.
Maintain tools and equipment for polishing and refinishing tasks in good working order.
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their requirements and provide expert advice on finishes.
Requirements
Proven experience as a French Polisher or in a similar woodworking role.
Strong knowledge of different types of wood, finishes, and polishing techniques.
Attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform polishing tasks efficiently.
Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on wooden items.
A strong portfolio demonstrating previous work and expertise in French polishing.

End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £120.00
