Job Description: Construction Facades Design Coordinator
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Facades Design Coordinator to join our construction team. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating the design, detailing, and technical aspects of façade systems from concept through to construction, ensuring compliance with project specifications, regulations, and client requirements. The successful candidate will act as a vital link between architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to deliver innovative, efficient, and buildable façade solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Design Coordination
* Oversee and coordinate the façade design process across consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
* Review architectural drawings, structural details, and specifications to ensure façade design compliance.
* Develop and maintain façade design schedules, ensuring timely delivery of information.
* Technical Oversight
* Review and comment on shop drawings, material samples, and technical submissions.
* Ensure façade designs comply with building codes, fire safety, thermal, acoustic, and sustainability requirements.
* Provide technical input on buildability, cost, and performance of façade systems.
* Stakeholder Management
* Liaise with architects, façade engineers, structural engineers, MEP teams, and main contractors.
* Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators to ensure technical accuracy and feasibility of designs.
* Attend design and coordination meetings, representing the façade package.
* Quality & Compliance
* Ensure design solutions align with project specifications, budget, and program requirements.
* Support the site team with technical queries and problem-solving during installation.
* Manage approvals process for façade elements from clients, consultants, and statutory authorities.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
* Proven experience in façade design and coordination within construction projects (commercial, residential, or mixed-use).
* Strong understanding of façade systems (curtain walling, cladding, glazing, stone, etc.).
* Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (fire, thermal, acoustic, structural).
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or other design coordination software.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong problem-solving ability with a detail-oriented approach.
Desired Skills
* Experience with sustainable façade design and green building certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
* Knowledge of advanced materials and innovative façade technologies.
* Ability to manage multiple packages and fast-track programs.
