I am currently representing Bath and Northeast Somerset Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.
We are looking for Business Support Officer based at Keynsham Civic Centre, BS31 1FS
This role is office-based, full-time (9am to 5pm) Monday to Friday. It is most likely possible that this could be extended at the end of 3 months.
Must be able to work well under pressure, operating a busy phone line and fielding calls about homelessness and housing issues.
Key Accountabilities :
* Undertake routine and very straightforward administrative support tasks in accordance with closely defined protocols and instructions, such as photocopying, filing, or ordering basic supplies in accordance with defined Council protocols, to provide business support to the team.
* Undertake simple data entry and other straight-forward ICT related tasks as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Council templates and forms.
* Where required, arrange seating and prepare materials in line instructions to support the smooth-running of meetings and events, enabling the delivery of the team.
* Act as a point of contact from the public/clients, efficiently pass the request through to the appropriate person or take an accurate message, to ensure all enquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
* Where required, support the taking of payments from the public/clients, handling monies and accurately recording the transaction, in line with the Council’s financial procedures.
Knowledge, skills and experience :
* Basic knowledge of ICT packages such as Word and Excel.
* Some knowledge of specific straightforward business support and administrative processes.
* Experience of undertaking administrative and clerical tasks, including handling monies if relevant to the role.
Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues in a polite and efficient manner and recognising when to escalate to a senior colleague
