The Development Team is guided by our purpose to reimagine medicine to improve and extend people’s lives; we are optimizing processes, investing in new technologies, and building depth and capabilities to bring medicines to patients faster.

At Novartis, you will join an industry leader to lead the implementation of modern and innovative trial/experimental designs, statistical models, analysis and data exploration methodologies at the project level. Biostatisticians support 200+ compounds across 10+ sites, transforming clinical data into analyses that inform decision-making in cross-functional international teams from early to late phase drug development.

The Role

Lead the statistical strategy and execution for HTA-related activities, including comparative effectiveness and pricing and reimbursement considerations, across Europe and other geographies. Drive quantitative decision making in collaboration with Health Economics and Outcome Research, Market Access, and other functions. Manage project-level activities, resources, and partnerships with vendors; oversee statistical work and ensure quality and timely delivery of statistical deliverables. Communicate findings to non-statistical stakeholders and mentor junior biostatisticians.

Key Accountabilities

* Accountable for strategic statistical input and influence into one or more projects (clinical development plan, integrated evidence generation strategy, publication strategy, market access strategy, pricing & reimbursement strategy).
* Lead implementation of efficient and innovative statistical methodology in HTA (e.g., indirect treatment comparison methods such as network meta-analysis, population-adjusted methods), reimbursement activities, clinical trials, and observational research to accelerate patient access across geographies.
* Lead collaborations with Health Economics and Outcome Research, Market Access, and other strategic functions to drive quantitative decision making in assigned indications/programs.
* Plan, prioritize and oversee project-level activities and ensure efficient resource management within or across franchises and with vendors.
* Support responses to payer requests and interactions; contribute to internal and external scientific interactions with decision-making agencies and healthcare professionals.
* Responsible for all statistical work, scientific and operational, in collaboration with cross-functional and cross-regional partners.
* Ensure quality, timely and consistent statistical deliverables and organizational learning through application of processes and best practices.
* Support selection of external vendors and oversee them for outsourced activities.
* Keep up to date with HTA industry trends and innovative statistical methodologies, especially observational HTA methods, to justify method choices.
* Communicate statistical findings and recommendations to non-statistical stakeholders clearly.
* Develop and mentor biostatisticians in statistical methodologies and processes.

Your Experience

* PhD with experience preferred or MS with experience with a degree emphasis in Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent quantitative field.
* Advanced knowledge of applying statistics (especially indirect treatment comparison methods such as network meta-analysis, population-adjusted methods) and innovative approaches in experimental design and causal inference.
* Expertise in HTA, reimbursement processes and regulations, and a strong understanding of international regulatory authority processes and drug development.
* Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel across therapeutic areas.
