Make a Real Difference: Teaching Assistant (SEN) at a Specialist Trust in Cranleigh

Start Date: September 2025

Essential Requirements: Proven SEN Experience and Full Driving Licence

This Specialist Trust in Cranleigh is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team from September 2025. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of children and young people with complex and severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and communication and interaction needs.

At this school, we provide highly specialised, therapy:based education for students aged 5:19. We foster a nurturing and inclusive Catholic environment, welcoming those of all faiths, where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential. Our focus is on a holistic approach, developing not only academic skills but also vital life skills and independence.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students learning and development, both in and out of the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting teachers in the delivery of tailored educational programmes.
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to students, adapting to their individual needs.
* Helping to create a stimulating and safe learning environment.
* Supporting students with their communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
* Assisting with personal care and promoting independence skills where appropriate.
* Accompanying students on educational visits and activities, which may involve driving school vehicles.
* Working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team of teachers, therapists, and care staff.

What Were Looking For:

* Essential: Demonstrable experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with complex needs and/or autism.
* Essential: A full, clean driving licence and a willingness to drive school vehicles.
* A genuine passion for working with young people with SEN and a commitment to their progress and well:being.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and families.
* Patience, resilience, and a positive, can:do attitude.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated team.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
