We are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant to join a well-established and growing business in Wigan within the manufacturing/distribution sector. This is a fully on-site role offering a broad and hands-on position within a busy finance function, supporting the day-to-day operations as well as month-end and reporting processes.This role would suit someone who is detail-oriented, proactive and confident managing multiple aspects of the finance function, including both transactional and management accounting responsibilities.
Your new role
1. Manage sales ledger and credit control, including trading limits, bad debt monitoring and high-risk accounts
2. Oversee orders on hold, forward orders and new customer account set-up
3. Maintain and reconcile customer accounts, including cash posting and query resolution
4. Handle purchase ledger processes, including preparation, monitoring and supplier payments
5. Perform bank inputting and reconciliations
6. Manage and control import and export processes, including proformas and system accuracy
7. Support andplete month-end activities, including: sales and purchase ledger close, accruals and prepayments, bank revaluations, journal entries and general ledger review
8. Produce monthly management accounts and sales reporting
9. Prepare and submit VAT returns and reconciliations
10. Liaise with auditors and assist with audit requirements
11. Manage PAYE, wages and auto-enrolment processes
12. Maintain finance systems and ensure effective internal controls
13. Respond to finance queries and support wider business operations as required
What you'll need to succeed
14. Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar role
15. Strong knowledge of month-end processes and financial reporting
16. Experience across sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control
17. Confidentpleting reconciliations, VAT returns and journals
18. Strong Excel and system skills
19. Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
20. High attention to detail with a proactive and organised approach
What you'll get in return
21. Salary of £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
