Location: Tresham College – Corby Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £23,557 and £26,754 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 20 hours per week – 52 weeks per year – working hours are Monday to Thursday 13.00 to 17.00, and Fridays 12.30 to 16.30.
Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Receptionist to join our Customer Contact and Admissions department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Receptionist, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Front‑of‑House Customer Service– Deliver a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all visitors, students and staff; act as the first point of contact; maintain high service standards; and uphold the College’s reputation through professional appearance and behaviour.
2. Reception Operations & Enquiries – Run the reception desk efficiently, handling calls, email enquiries, CRM updates, lost property, ID card production, visitor management, and signposting customers to appropriate services.
3. Administrative & Support Duties – Prepare student ID cards and parking permits, support part‑time course administration (including welcome packs), complete stock checks, distribute post and parcels, and assist with daily operational tasks such as cashing up.
4. Facilities, Safety & Compliance – Keep reception areas safe, tidy and compliant; follow visitor procedures in line with safeguarding, GDPR and H&S; report hazards promptly; and support key events such as Open Days and Enrolment.
5. Teamwork, Flexibility & Professional Standards – Work collaboratively within the Directorate, support colleagues as needed, attend training across campuses, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, H&S and continuous development responsibilities.
About you:
6. Core Qualifications & Customer Service Experience – GCSE‑level English and Maths (A*–C / 9–4 or equivalent) plus experience working in customer‑facing, front‑of‑house or reception environments, handling enquiries and supporting a wide range of visitors.
7. Communication, Professionalism & Behaviour – Friendly, welcoming and confident communicator across face‑to‑face, phone and written channels, able to remain calm, polite and professional in challenging situations and maintain excellent personal presentation in line with service standards.
8. Administrative, IT & Organisational Skills – Strong ability to use email, internet and office systems, maintain manual and digital records, work in a busy open‑plan environment, manage high peaks of activity and prioritise tasks effectively.
9. Teamwork, Values & College Representation – Positive team contributor who upholds College values (Caring, Continuous Improvement, Educational Excellence, Inclusive, Student Centred, Teamwork), respects colleagues, promotes the organisation’s reputation and works confidently within policies and procedures.
