Overview
Electricity Distribution - Network Technician role at National Grid, based at the Bude depot. You will be accountable to the Team Manager for the construction, maintenance and repair of the underground and overhead network up to 33kV, including programming and monitoring of immediate work colleagues, switching up to 33kV, issuing appropriate safety documentation and other tasks appropriate to the Technician role.
Responsibilities
* Network operations including the issue of Limitations of Access and Permit to Work safety documents up to 33kV
* Construction of distribution substations, construction and alteration of overhead lines and associated plant
* Installation of plant; laying and jointing of cables up to 11kV
* Repair and replacement of faulty and obsolete plant, cables and overhead lines
* Recording asset routes, details and positions
* Recording plant details
* Connecting generators
Qualifications and Requirements
* Grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in both subjects
* City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering
* Evidence of qualifications required prior to appointment
* Potential initial appointment at a lower salary depending on experience, until relevant courses and training are complete
* Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 to be undertaken if not already achieved
* Live within approximately 30 minutes of the depot
* Be mobile throughout the area to undertake standby duties as part of the formal rota
* Role is subject to satisfactory DBS check; screening/vetting levels may vary by role
