Job Description
Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager, the Warehouse Shift Manager will manage teams within the Warehouse and motivate employees. Ensuring all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse are maintained and product is picked and dispatched to the highest standard to meet KPIs.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 19:00-07:00
Key Duties of a Warehouse Shift Manager:
1. Manage and motivate the shift team to achieve or exceed productivity and service KPIs.
2. Lead a team of Team Leaders and Warehouse Operatives in their daily workload.
3. Ensure orders are picked, marshalled, unloaded, and loaded according to customer specifications.
4. Maintain high levels of health, safety, and hygiene, ensuring compliance with legislative and quality requirements, with proper documentation.
5. Deliver communication briefings to keep all shifts informed and involved.
6. Manage goods inwards to ensure quick receipt and minimal damage, ensuring stock availability.
7. Develop team members to maximize their contributions and create a structured succession plan.
8. Conduct disciplinary and grievance interviews following company procedures.
9. Monitor and control sickness absence levels and conduct effective return-to-work interviews.
10. Oversee time and attendance records.
11. Plan manpower efficiently, including overtime and agency staff management.
12. Enforce company policies and procedures.
13. Monitor and coordinate team training, including health & safety representatives.
14. Support management with ad-hoc duties within the Warehouse.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Previous experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment.
* Good working knowledge of warehouse and logistics operations.
* Strong understanding of health and safety standards.
* Ability to motivate and manage large teams.
* Effective prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
* Strong communication skills at all levels.
* Proactive decision-making abilities.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure and across multifunctional departments.
