Job Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor specialising in high-level rope access and steeplejack works, you will manage project costs, ensure financial efficiency, and provide guidance throughout each project's lifecycle. You will work closely with Customers, Contract Managers, MD, and field teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with high safety standards.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
o Prepare accurate cost estimates for high-level access projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
o Develop and maintain project budgets aligned with client expectations and financial goals.
o Attend site surveys, which may involve travel as Pendrich offers a national service.
2. Contract Administration:
o Review and assess contracts for steeplejack and rope access works, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
o Assist in procurement strategies and the selection of subcontractors and suppliers.
3. Risk Assessment and Management:
o Identify risks related to safety, environment, and finances in high-level access projects.
o Develop mitigation strategies to address these risks and ensure project viability.
4. Tendering and Bidding:
o Lead the preparation of tender documents for high-level access projects.
o Evaluate subcontractor bids and recommend qualified personnel and suppliers.
5. Financial Reporting:
o Monitor project expenses against budgets and prepare financial reports for stakeholders.
o Provide insights on project performance and suggest corrective actions.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
o Coordinate with Customers, Contracts Managers, site teams, and MD to ensure effective communication throughout projects.
o Participate in site meetings and discuss project progress and challenges.
7. Quality Assurance:
o Ensure all work adheres to industry standards, client specifications, and safety protocols.
Job Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in high-rise buildings, tall structures, infrastructure, or steeplejack works.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and cost management.
* Experience with tendering and risk management.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., MS Excel).
* Attention to detail and precision in cost and contract assessments.
* Membership or accreditation with a professional body (e.g., RICS) is advantageous.
* Relevant safety certifications (e.g., IRATA, IOSH) are a plus.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
