Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools (Cheshire East)
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £100 – £140 per day (dependent on experience)
Locations: Nantwich, Crewe, Winsford, Northwich, Congleton, Macclesfield

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisors to join our secondary schools across Cheshire East. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of year groups, delivering both specific subject cover and general classroom supervision.
This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same—you’ll play a vital part in fostering resilience, independence, and progress within young learners.
We want to hear from:
1. Fully Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTLS)
2. Experienced Cover Supervisors
3. HLTAs (Higher Level Teaching Assistants)
4. Teaching Assistants with proven classroom experience who are ready to step up
Job Specification
Working as a Cover Supervisor can be a very rewarding but very demanding role. Schools may wish to employ staff for cover supervision but on occasions where they are not needed for cover, they might also be released to provide additional support to Teachers in classrooms, or to carry out administrative tasks.
Ideally, candidates will be required to:
5. Develop curricular knowledge in line with the school requirements
6. Apply the school’s behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class Teacher/senior leadership team
7. Set homework in line with the classroom Teacher requirements
8. Provide homework under the guidance of the class Teacher
9. Administer class tests if requested
10. Supervise the work of the Teaching Assistant, providing support if required
11. Abide by and work towards all policies within the school, eg – behaviour management, health and safety, equal opportunities
12. Carry out pre-prepared exercises in the short term absence of the class Teacher
13. Ensure students remain on task through classroom management
14. You will not be required to plan lessons, but will have the opportunity to lead the class
15. Assisting students where required and ensuring lessons are delivered
16. Collect completed work and pass to the class teacher.
