Role Purpose
To plan, direct and coordinate the smooth, efficient running of the day‑to‑day warehouse operational activities and to lead the Warehouse team by giving direction and monitoring performance to ensure the department operates efficiently and effectively, providing a quality service to our customers.
Role Scope
* Lead, motivate and continually develop the warehouse team in a harmonious atmosphere.
* Lead the team by example in accordance with company procedures.
* Organise, plan and manage day‑to‑day warehouse operations.
* Ensure company compliance is maintained in line with warehouse legislation.
* Compile requirements for colleagues and operational support, including payroll.
* Ensure the safety, health and welfare at work of employees.
* Liaise with all stakeholders internal and external to manage and maintain a flexible, team‑based approach.
Shift Timing
Mon – Wed: 12:00pm – 11:00pm
Thu: 12:15pm – 11:00pm
Key Activities and Daily Responsibilities
* Update team members on company news, initiatives and gain colleague feedback.
* Assist in recruitment, onboarding and development of new colleagues as required.
* Ensure all team members are trained and assessed for competency on an ongoing basis.
* Complete mandatory and assigned training.
* Conduct performance reviews and offer support on future development.
* Act as first line of contact for people‑management issues, including absence, disciplinary and grievance matters.
* Organise, plan and manage day‑to‑day operations in line with daily and weekly plans, ensuring targets are met.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure all targets are achieved.
* Provide strong communication with all elements of the supply chain.
* Support wider warehouse operation when necessary.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date administration records.
* Develop strong internal and external customer relationships to resolve issues.
* Support management in strategic development of the warehouse function.
* Identify operational issues and report to senior management.
* Lead projects as directed.
* Manage end‑to‑end processes for accidents and incidents, complete investigations and cascade information to higher management.
* Conduct investigations and disciplinary interviews in line with company policy.
* Conduct safety walks daily, completing remedial actions as necessary.
* Ensure colleagues complete daily MHE checks and paperwork.
* Coordinate with bulk team for supplier and customer engagement.
* Adhere to all company, statutory and health and safety obligations.
* Perform any other duty required for the effective operation of the site.
Core Skills
* High level of computer literacy.
* Experience managing in a warehousing environment.
* Excellent communication, people‑management and customer‑service skills.
* Good organisational, administrative and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑moving environment.
* Thorough knowledge of distribution operations, including H&S and HACCP.
* Willingness to support the business by living Musgrave values.
* Exposure to LEAN/CI methodology.
* Analytical experience in interpreting data.
* Strong PC literacy with emphasis on accuracy and extensive knowledge of spreadsheets/databases.
Essential Qualifications
* GCSE standard or equivalent – passes at grade C or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
* Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft suite.
Desirable Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
* Managing a team in a fast‑moving, customer‑orientated warehouse operation.
* Experience compiling and presenting KPIs to senior level.
* Experience reviewing, controlling and staying within a set budget.

* Project experience.
* Warehouse layout/design knowledge.
* Analytical skills for interpreting operational data.
* Advanced spreadsheet/database capability.
