Electrical Design Engineer – Allied Vehicles Group
Allied Vehicles designs, develops, and manufactures specialist vehicles, including wheelchair‑accessible vehicles, taxis, and minibuses. We also provide after‑sales services and are Scotland’s largest independent parts distributor. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering department.
Overview
As an Electrical Design Engineer you will provide engineering expertise on all electrical/electronic technical matters related to our conversion business, covering New Product Development (NPD) and Current Model Production (CMP). Hours are Monday‑Wednesday with flexible start times (7–8 am) and finish 5–6 pm, Thursday flexible start 7–8 am and finish 4:30–5:30 pm. Salary is up to £45k, dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop new and existing vehicle conversion electrical and electronic systems (full lifecycle) from concept to manufacture/delivery.
* Amend designs, technical specifications, BOMs, and documentation via the Engineering Change Note (ECN) process.
* Provide manufacturing support during production implementation and for any production/warranty faults.
Qualifications
* HND in electrical engineering or related subject, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment with a solid grasp of electrical and electronic engineering and design principles.
* Advanced computer literacy (MS Office suite and common office software).
* Previous experience in the WAV/coachbuilding industry is advantageous but not essential.
