The prestigious Hooke Research Fellowships provide an ideal opportunity for candidates to pursue an independent research programme in applied mathematics, and to join a large existing cohort of leading researchers on Fellowship programmes at the Mathematical Institute: The prestigious Glasstone Research Fellowship in Science is supported by the Glasstone Bequest, which was set up to encourage scientists at an early stage of their career to follow their research interests at Oxford: The Department is also advertising a similar fellowship scheme for Titchmarsh Research Fellows in pure mathematics which can be found at: using vacancy ID: 182818 To aid the development of their academic profile, Fellows will be required to contribute up to three hours of teaching per week for the 24 weeks of each academic year to support the department, averaged over the period of the Fellowship to allow for extended visits elsewhere. (The exact nature of this teaching will be in accordance with departmental need as determined by the Head of Department, noting that the department may require you to teach in a college to provide cover for a member of faculty). Candidates will be expected to have a completed doctorate or a completed doctoral dissertation submitted for examination by the advertised closing date for this position in mathematics or a related discipline (Candidates who have not yet been awarded their doctorate should provide the date they expect to submit their thesis in their supporting statement). They should also show evidence of independence and the ability to undertake research of the highest academic standard, hold an outstanding record of papers published in major international journals (commensurate with career stage), and have a realisable and relevant research plan which would enhance the research profile of the Mathematical Institute.
