We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Be the strategic lead for the way we manage financial investigations to fulfil our obligations under POCA.
* Provide strong leadership, motivate and develop your team, and manage performance and work delivery.
* Manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC).
* Influence at a senior level to ensure the Environment Agency’s priorities are supported and recognised by external enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and increasing understanding of POCA; share lessons learnt; input into changes to technical documentation; provide advice to enforcement officers nationwide.
* Lead a dispersed, nationally distributed team of Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts; work with enforcement staff and partners across the country on serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.
Team
The Economic Crime Unit comprises two teams – the Asset Denial Team and the Money Laundering Investigations Team. These teams include Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts.
Experience / Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team.
* Strong understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in: working in the law enforcement sector with an understanding of the National Intelligence Model;
* Effective communication, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders;
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritise a varied workload;
* Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices;
* Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it.

Additional information
This is a hybrid working role and you’ll work flexibly from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is part of our work; you may have an incident role and be required to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
