Job Description: Operational Planning is a vital support service to the entire operation, helping the airport meet its vision of giving passengers the best airport service in the world while facing continuous challenges as one of the busiest airports. The team is responsible for creating effective planning propositions, from defining roles to building rosters, and delivering efficient daily plans. The role involves understanding capacity, evaluating performance, and driving continuous improvement.
The role collaborates across all operational areas, including Security, Services, Airport Operations, and Baggage, to foster a data-driven culture and enhance data science capabilities. It involves working with historic and forecast data to provide clear insights for planning and performance enhancement. The role will influence various operational teams, support improvement initiatives, and contribute to the Plan-Do-Review process.
This is a Monday to Friday role.
Responsibilities:
1. Participate in a Modelling and Data Analytics team that transforms operational, passenger, and airline data into insights to optimize capacity, improve passenger experience, and support strategic decisions.
2. Develop reports, models, and visualizations in collaboration with operational planners and stakeholders to inform daily operations and long-term planning.
3. Work closely with planning teams to analyze plan versus actual performance and support assumption adjustments.
4. Make data accessible through storytelling, promoting a self-service, data-led culture.
5. Analyze operational performance, identify root causes of issues, and embed findings into models and plans for continuous improvement.
6. Combine datasets, including qualitative data, to derive meaningful insights and collaborate across functions for capacity, efficiency, and service improvements.
7. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, proficiency with tools like SQL, Excel, Python, R, and the ability to communicate findings effectively.
8. Build relationships with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver optimal outcomes.
9. Present analysis, reports, and dashboards clearly to gain stakeholder trust and buy-in.
10. Exercise judgment and decision-making in a complex, dynamic environment.
11. Drive continuous improvement through problem-solving and innovation, translating analytical outcomes into practical models and tools, ideally with statistical knowledge.
Ideally, you'll also have: Knowledge of airport operations.

Working Location:
Hybrid approach, with an average of two days remote work per week. Must be based in the UK, within commuting distance to Heathrow.
