Are you a skilled butcher with a passion for premium cuts, precision craftsmanship, and top-tier customer service? We’re on the hunt for a dedicated and talented Head Butcher to lead our butchery operations. This isn’t just any butchery job – it’s a hands-on, high-responsibility role where your skills and expertise directly contribute to the success of a premium, customer-focused meat business.
What You’ll Do:
1. Master the Cut: Break down high-end meat joints into specific cuts for our retail and contract clients.
2. Create the Daily Show: Dress the display each morning, marinate cuts, manage ticketing, and rotate stock.
3. Craft Delicious Products: From juicy burgers and sausages to koftas, biltong, and chilli bites – you’ll prepare it all.
4. Keep It Fresh: Monitor and manage stock levels, use-by dates, and freezer inventory to reduce waste and maximise profit.
5. Take Ownership: Oversee all butchery tasks, order stock, conduct weekly inventory checks, and manage daily EHO checks.
6. Fulfil Orders with Precision: Manage and prepare bespoke customer and restaurant orders with care and accuracy.
7. Deliver Exceptional Service: Serve customers in the shop, offer expert advice, upsell products, and promote quick-sale items.
8. Lead by Example: Train and support Butcher’s Assistants, uphold top hygiene standards, and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
What We’re Looking For:
* A qualified or soon-to-be-qualified Butcher (Level 2 or above preferred)
* Experience in all aspects of butchery, including carcass breakdown, sausage-making, and marinating
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Great people skills – friendly, professional, and customer-focused
* IT literacy for order tracking, stock management, and dockets
* A true team player with leadership capabilities
* Commitment to hygiene, safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement

Hours of work: 06:00 – 16:30 Tuesday – Thursday, 06:00 – 17:30 Fridays, every second Saturday 06:00 – 15:00
