Job Title : Business Advisor – Industrial Enterprise (Secondment) Please note: Automatic promotion is not guaranteed Dynamic working : 2 days per week The opportunity: The UK Business Advisors Team (UK BAT), within the Deputy Managing Directors Office, works on a variety of topics including UK Policy and Industrial Strategy. This is an internal-only opportunity for a Level 5 or Grade C Executive secondee from the Engineering or Operations Directorates (Grade B Executives may be considered in specific cases). The successful candidate will work within the UK BAT for a period of up to 24 months on the definition and implementation of one or more Industrial Enterprise Strategies; contributing their technical experience and perspective while benefiting from professional development through broadening their understanding of the business and industry. An Industrial Enterprise Strategy considers and shapes the required relationships between MBDA UK and other commercial entities (whether competitors, partners and/or suppliers) to achieve one or more business objectives. The successful applicant will lead multi-disciplinary teams with a variety of expertise and perspectives (e.g. Procurement, Sales & Business Development, Technical, Portfolio, Programmes, Legal) to consider the extant and emerging industrial landscape in a specific Engineering Domain and generate recommendations for how it may be influenced and improved. This may include: analysis of complex, multi-faceted relationships between industrial entities; consideration of international workshare; alignment with UK MoD policy and aspirations. You should be able to demonstrate a majority of the following; Experience and knowledge in one or more technical areas. Current industrial strategy activities are planned or are currently being undertaken in the following domains, however, candidates are welcome from any Engineering/Operations function. Seekers, Communications/Data Links, Electronic Warfare, Energetics including Warheads & Rocket Motors, Launchers, Safety & Arming Units. Systematic/logical thinking, with the ability to translate the complex into digestible chunks and manage interdependencies Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor style and content to the audience. Capacity to interact at senior level, across different directorates and with external stakeholders Able to develop effective working relationships and to influence without authority Open mind and willingness to learn/look at things from a different perspective What’s in it for you? Administrative notes The successful candidate will be seconded to the UK BAT but remain as an employee of their home function. The secondment will likely be between 6 months & 2 years, however, timescales are negotiable and may be affected by business priorities. Your line manager, including for performance and development, will be a member of the UK BAT. The team typically meets face-to-face in Stevenage on a Tuesday & Wednesday on a fortnightly basis. Working from home, and flexible hours are permitted, assuming availability for meetings. A d-hoc travel to other MBDA, customer and industry sites may also be required.
