Quantity Surveyor – Residential Groundworks Location: County Durham Full-Time | Permanent Salary: Up to £55,000 Company Benefits Overview A well-established residential groundworks contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of multiple housing developments across County Durham. This role offers long-term stability and the chance to work with a respected contractor in the regional housing sector. Role Summary The Quantity Surveyor will manage all commercial and financial aspects of residential groundworks projects—from tender through to final account—ensuring profitability, accuracy, and compliance throughout. Key Responsibilities Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and valuations Complete take-offs and produce accurate tender submissions Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and variations Prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts Track project costs, forecasts, and cash flow Work closely with site teams and clients to resolve commercial matters Maintain accurate project records and documentation Support monthly commercial and financial reporting Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks or residential civil engineering Strong commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Clear communication, negotiation, and organisational skills Ability to manage multiple projects independently Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree preferred) Full UK driving licence and willingness to attend sites What’s On Offer Salary up to £55,000 Company car or car allowance Pension and company benefits Long-term career opportunities within a growing contractor
