Drapers’ Academy is seeking a new Home School Attendance Officer.

The Home School Attendance Officer is a member of a team of school staff who work together to make sure that all pupils achieve their full potential at school by achieving and maintaining excellent attendance. The Home School Attendance Officer works at the direction of the Vice Principal of Drapers’ Academy and works within the attendance team consisting of two other members of staff.

The Home School Attendance Officer will analyse data and work alongside the Pastoral Team to support pupils who are not attending well and put measures in place to improve attendance. The post holder will be expected to work with families and their children and, where appropriate, across the MAT schools to improve whole school attendance and reduce persistent absenteeism.

Drapers’ Academy has much to offer:

* Summer 2024: Best ever GCSE and A Level results
* Nationally recognised GCSE progress
* March 2025: Recognised by Ofsted as Good in all areas
* A clear vision to deliver high standards of education and serve our community
* State‑of‑the‑art campus surrounded by acres of countryside
* Committed, generous sponsors: The Drapers Company and Queen Mary University
* Fully subscribed through the school
* An environment that promotes innovation
* Opportunities to teach across KS3, 4 and 5
* Free access to the Employee Assistance Programme offering individual support, information and advice
* All pupils are asked to place their phones in Yondr pouches during the school day
* Committed and supportive Senior Leadership Team
* Proactive staff‑led Wellbeing Team
* Our own Sixth Form area is dedicated to A Level teaching
* Membership of the Havering Teacher Training Partnership and the Ambition Institute to support ECT induction, teacher training and CPD of staff at all levels
* An employer who invests in the development of staff with a commitment to ongoing professional development through Instructional Coaching
* Staff access to our gym
* Close proximity to the M25 (Junction 28, Brentwood) and the A12 for ease of access from London, Kent, Essex or Hertfordshire and ample secure on‑site parking
* Short bus journey from Harold Wood train station and Elizabeth line tube station

It is our practice to recruit staff to permanent positions via direct application rather than agency placement.

We welcome staff who wish to visit the school in advance of application. To arrange this, please contact slucey@drapersacademy.com

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early upon appointment of a successful candidate.

Closing date: 9.00am on Monday, 16th March 2026.

Interviews: w/c Monday 23 rd March.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self‑declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
