Overview
3 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants. We’re champions of the North West and we’re proud that it’s our electricity network that connects communities and helps keep the electricity flowing every minute of every day. The North West’s electricity network operator is leading the way to decarbonise and enable clean, green economic growth, supporting renewable energy and a sustainable energy future for all.
In December 2024 we were named Utility of the Year by Utility Week for using innovation to solve industry challenges. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to that mission and make a difference.
The Role
As a Design Engineer you will apply a high level of technical expertise to produce high quality design and quotations for new and modified connections while delivering excellent customer service. You will manage workloads to meet regulatory standards and customer expectations, adapt to business changes, and identify training needs for less experienced colleagues to deliver or arrange training. You will ensure designs are safe and cost-effective in accordance with Electricity North West Licence Conditions, Common Connections Charging Methodology and Electricity North West Policy and Standards of compliance.
Design work includes new and modified connections for demand and distributed generation, requests from third party connectors, and diversions associated with a new connection. You should be familiar with new Low Carbon technologies connecting to the Distribution Network (e.g., Electric Vehicle chargers, heat pumps, battery technology). A good working knowledge of ENA ER G5, G98 and G99 and experience designing generation systems is required. You will also adhere to Ofgem standards, maintain data integrity, and provide accurate forecasts for projects under your control. You should be results focused to convert customer service into accepted quotations and sustain a healthy order book to meet acceptance targets.
If you demonstrate being “switched on,” adaptable, and take pride in your work, this is a fantastic opportunity.
