Key Purpose:
Responsible for the continuous supply of “on quality” liquid intermediates and finished mixes to the filling department. Responsible for test and final release for filling of manufactured bulk mix.
Key Activities:
* Prepare kitted materials, chemicals and other starting ingredients where necessary
* Prepare mixed bulk product according to the requirements of the Production plan
* Undertake all in process adjustments necessary for the successful completion of a bulk mix
* Test the completed mix to the appropriate specification using laid down testing procedures
* Record the results obtained and, where product conforms to the appropriate release specification, release the product for filling
* Perform other departmental duties as laid down in work instructions or as requested by the Team Manager
Key Result Areas:
* Achieve the Production plan for the relevant area for the shift worked
* Achieve targeted rates of “right first time” pass of manufactured blend
* Achieve targeted levels of ingredient and liquid wastage and rework
* Recording of testing results and maintenance of the testing equipment according to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) requirements
* Achieve departmental targeted levels of Safety performance
Relevant and Quantifiable Measures:

* Operates several million pounds of capital equipment in a safe and efficient manner (depending on the area worked)
* Department produces typically 16,000 batches per year
* Converts £17 million raw materials to semi finished products

Technical Competencies & Qualifications:

Education and Experience
* 2 Years experience in a chemical blending of manufacturing environment is desirable.
* Literacy and numeracy to good GCSE standards in maths and English
* Expertise to Level 1 in analytical testing of bulk materials
* Good RMB SAP system capability is essential.
* Exposure to and understanding of Process industry Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’S) is desirable.
* Formal problem solving skills are desirable.
* Reach and counterbalance truck licences are required

* Observes the Fire Evacuation Procedure and learn the position of all fire equipment and exit routes
Quality

* Reports substandard or unsatisfactory work/products.
* Trained to carry out all “first-line” laboratory test procedures associated with the Blending function.
SAP
* Has a through knowledge of the SAP transactions and processes associated with the Blending function.
FLT
* Trained to operate reach-type FLT (essential)
* Trained to operate counterbalance-type FLT (desirable)
Mixer Process
* Competent at mixing a range of products in the correct vessels following the recipes and mixing instructions.
* Monitor temperature controls and manage any steam injections.
* Manages the pumping of direct chemicals, monitors and records the flow meter readings.
* Ensures that all analytical tests are completed at the correct time.
* Sanitation processes are completed to the GMP standard.
* Is fully trained as an FLT and complies with all the safety rules.
* Transfer of product to production is prioritised to the production plan, capable of adjustments as required. Use of RFU’s as necessary.
* Maintains the housekeeping to GMP standards.
Dispensing Process
* Competent at dispensing a wide range of products following the recipes and weighing instructions.
* Records and tags all the dispensed products with the correct paperwork move to the allocated bay.
* Manages batch production as part of the production planning.
* Demonstrates the correct use of scales and measuring equipment.
* Stock is correctly located and returned to the allocated locations in the warehouse.
* Maintains the housekeeping to GMP standards.
Continuous Improvement
* Knowledge of suitable processes and skills application.
* Participates in continuous improvement activities.
