Role Overview
We are looking for an urban drainage advisor with sewer hydraulic modelling experience. This role is part of the national Water Quality Regulatory Development team in the Water Regulation directorate and offers the opportunity to work with a dispersed national team focused on designing and implementing regulatory approaches to improve storm and emergency overflow management.
Responsibilities
* Design and deliver new regulatory frameworks, enabling strategic change in how sewerage companies manage storm and emergency overflows.
* Apply sewer hydraulic and modelling tools to inform guidance, ensure programme delivery, and co‑develop training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM).
* Develop audit processes for water quality investigations under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act.
* Respond to incidents and / or provide business continuity support during an incident, with an option to take an incident role and receive additional training and payment.
* Coach staff on sewerage and water quality investigations and embed new approaches across dispersed teams.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant degree in civil engineering, geography, environmental science or equivalent, with continued professional development.
* Experience in sewer modelling and/or river quality impact modelling carried out for UPM studies, including model audits.
* Knowledge of environmental planning and regulation of Water and Sewerage Companies.
* Excellent organisational skills, ability to coach others, and experience embedding new processes within a business.
