National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a SOC Analyst to join our Cyber Security team in Digital Services. As a SOC Analyst, you will collect and analyse security event data arising from activity across the organisation and develop rules for generating security alerts. Additionally, the SOC Analyst will also investigate potential malicious activity and escalate incidents and initiate responses when appropriate and will continually improve the security capability of National Highways through dashboard monitoring and retrospective assessments.
Please note this role can be based from any of our UK offices however travel to regional offices will be required.
* Support the Security Operations Team to detect, identify and triage security incidents using the provided security tooling and ticketing application.
* Develop and operate the National Highways incident response processes, working closely with the Service Desk and Service Operations Team when required.
* Support the development of key documentation, controls and playbooks to ensure compliance to security policy and security best practice.
* Follow industry developments in IT security and trending vulnerabilities to stay current with emerging threats and how these might be applied within the Security Operations Team.
* Be an ambassador for Cybersecurity; promoting good practices and the team's tools and services across the organisation.
About you
* Good technical knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection tools.
* Proven technical background in a SOC, Digital Forensics or Malware Analysis.
* Cyber Security related degree / qualification of a similar discipline or significant appropriate experience.
* Excellent understanding of threat intelligence and threat assessment principles and concepts.
* Excellent ability to communicate tailored threat information to relevant local stakeholders within the organisation.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
