Position Overview
This post is a full‑time, fixed‑term ST4 Level 4 (L4) Academic Training (LAT) placement in General Adult Psychiatry. It is a 12‑month, one‑off position based in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
Documented competencies achieved through LAT posts can count towards completion of the Core Clinical Training (CCT) programme if the applicant is subsequently appointed to a General Adult Specialty Training Programme.
The placement can include Stobhill Hospital, Gartnavel Hospital and Leverndale Hospital, with associated community resource centres. Exact placement will be confirmed after appointment.
Key Responsibilities
* Work alongside a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry as a Higher Resident, providing weekly supervision, completing WBPA’s and ARCP forms.
* Deliver a mix of community and inpatient psychiatric care, including assessment and management of patients under the Mental Health Act.
* Develop as a senior medical doctor within the wider multidisciplinary team.
* Engage in quality improvement activities, research projects and special interest initiatives.
* Participate in the West of Scotland regional teaching programme.
* Take part in the North and South GGC on‑call rotas, and court liaison on‑call duties as part of the GGC court liaison rota.
Requirements
Applicants must hold GMC registration and a license to practice medicine in the UK.
