Senior Occupational therapist
Band 6
We are looking for a keen OT to join our Acute Therapy Team. The team consists of Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy staff.
There are 6 monthly rotations through medicine, elderly care, surgery and orthopaedics providing a wide variety of experience within the acute wards. Caseload in a particular area for assessing after acute illness or injury and planning and supporting discharge.
Supervision and support is provided by the Band 7 Occupational therapist.
Main duties of the job
* To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
* To provide leadership for junior staff through supervision, competencies and appraisal
* To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects
* To contribute to the maintenance and development of the trust Therapy service
* To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements
* To participate in the rotations as assigned by your manager

Salary: £44,485 to £52,521 a year p.a incl of HCAS

Education and qualification - Essential
* BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC Registered as OT
Desirable
* Relevant postgraduate training
Knowledge and understanding - Essential
* Knowledge of a range of OT models and demonstrate being up to date with trends and developments in OT stroke rehab
* Awareness of clinical guidelines and NSF's – NOF's, Elderly Care and Falls
Experience - Essential
* Postgraduate, incorporating experience in a variety of core areas including Elder, Surgery, Stroke and Medicine
* Experience working as an OT with adults in NHS
Desirable
* Previous OT Band 6 experience with adults
* Previous Community Band 6 OT experience with adults
Skills / abilities - Essential
