Job Description:
As the Functional Skills Curriculum Manager, you will be responsible for developing, overseeing and enhancing the Functional Skills curriculum at HMP Millsike.
HMP Millsike is a brand new prison based in Full Sutton, opening in Spring 2025. The Curriculum Manager will join the team Winter 2024 to lead on development and mobilisation ready for go live in Spring.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the curriculum is of high quality, relevant, and tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners. The manager will lead curriculum development, maintain rigorous quality assurance processes, and provide leadership and support to a team of tutors.
The role also involves managing resources, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering stakeholder engagement. The management team has responsibility for day-to-day operation of Education Department, including learner management, induction, class allocation, and conduct within the department.
The role includes:
* Curriculum Development: Design and develop a comprehensive functional skills curriculum tailored to the prison education environment, covering English, mathematics, and ICT at various levels. Ensure the curriculum is engaging, relevant, and accessible to learners with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
* Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and make necessary adjustments. Monitor and evaluate program delivery using data, observations, and feedback to drive continuous improvement. Lead interventions to address poor performance and secure rapid improvement, ensuring high-quality education outcomes for all learners.
* Team Leadership: Lead, support, and mentor a team of functional skills tutors, providing guidance, training, and professional development. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.
* Performance Monitoring: Analyze data related to learner progress, retention, and achievement. Use data to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
* Resource Management: Oversee development and procurement of teaching materials and resources, ensuring effective and appropriate use within the prison context.
What We're Looking For:
* A relevant first degree and/or professional qualification and a teaching qualification.
* A commitment to reducing re-offending through education and skills.
* The ability to identify and implement continuous curriculum improvements based on learner and employer needs.
* Successful experience in managing curriculum development, quality assurance, and staff performance to improve learner outcomes.
