The Role
To lead the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function at Lloyd’s, with accountability for budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial planning. This includes a strong focus on managing operating expenses and supporting the financial oversight of strategic projects, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet organisational priorities. The role provides insight and challenge to enable informed decision-making, with the goal of maintaining financial discipline and supporting Lloyd’s continued strength and sustainability in the marketplace.
Principal Accountabilities
* Lead and direct the FP&A team in delivering the annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes, focusing on operating expenses and spending on strategic projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with Lloyd’s strategy.
* Oversee and support the team in managing, monitoring, and reporting on expenses, ensuring that actual and forecast spend is well understood, controlled, and transparently communicated to stakeholders.
* Produce material to support the presentation of the Society of Lloyd's budgets/plans and forecasts to the Executive Committee, Audit Committee, Council and other stakeholders.
* Lead, direct, and support the FP&A team in partnering with project teams, business leaders, and the Transformation Office to develop and review business cases for strategic projects, ensuring cost and benefits are clearly identified, and that investment decisions are based on robust analysis.
* Lead the team’s work to track, report, and analyse spending on strategic projects, ensuring costs are managed in line with agreed plans and that intended benefits are delivered and evidenced.
* Ensure the team provides clear, objective financial analysis and insight to senior stakeholders, enabling effective decision-making.
* Oversee and support the team’s delivery of month-end and processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Maintain an effective system of internal control; ensure process and controls are adequately documented and designed and operate effectively on a continuous basis.
* Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment, providing coaching, direction, and support for professional development.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the FP&A team, identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline and enhance processes.
* Support the Chief Accountant and wider finance leadership team through the team’s delivery of ad hoc analysis, projects, and business partnering as required.
Skills
* Experience influencing and collaborating with senior leadership to drive financial discipline and support strategic objectives.
* Skilled at communicating complex financial information clearly to senior leaders and other stakeholders.
* Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams, managing multiple direct reports and matrix relationships.
* Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesise data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
* Able to prioritise and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and expense management within senior finance leadership roles.
* Deep understanding of financial governance, controls, and compliance in complex or regulated organisations.
* Familiarity with financial systems, reporting tools, and continuous improvement practices.
Experience
* Proven track record of leading FP&A or equivalent finance functions and driving budgeting and forecasting processes at senior levels.
* Experience partnering across functions and supporting strategic projects or organisational change. Experience providing financial insight and challenge to senior stakeholders to support effective decision-making.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture
Academic Qualifications
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) – essential
