Quantity Surveyor Tier 1 Rail Contractor | Light Rail & Urban Infrastructure Birmingham (MMA Depot & Projects) 40 hours | Monday – Friday Office / site based – 5 days per week The Opportunity This is a chance to join a Tier 1 rail contractor delivering high-profile urban light rail projects across Birmingham, working within the Midland Metro Alliance (MMA). You’ll be part of a well-established commercial team, taking ownership of a portfolio of live projects from early stages through to final account, with genuine exposure to complex interfaces, change management and stakeholder environments. Projects include major city-centre infrastructure tied into wider regeneration and transport schemes — this is proper QS work, not admin-heavy support. The Role You’ll be responsible for the full commercial management of your allocated projects, including: * Managing projects from inception through to final account * Supporting and working closely with the SQS / Senior Commercial Manager * Cost control, forecasting and monthly CVRs * Managing change, variations and contractual entitlements * Budget management and accurate cost allocation * Procurement support and supply chain management * Assessment and agreement of applications for payment * Ensuring cash flow is protected and contractual timescales are met * Negotiating and closing out final accounts and disputes * Working closely with delivery, engineering and finance teams You’ll have autonomy, responsibility and visibility — with support where needed.
