Overview
The Radiotherapy Physics Team is a dedicated multidisciplinary team comprising Engineers, Clinical Scientists, Dosimetrists and Allied Health Professionals. They work closely with the Clinical Radiotherapy Team and the Trust RPAs. The team supports all aspects of the equipment life cycle, from business cases and bids for innovative equipment to commissioning and oversight of safe use. There is a strong commitment to training, innovation, and research and development. The postholder will lead the Radiotherapy Physics Section in delivering comprehensive, highly specialist scientific and technical support services to the Clinical Radiotherapy Department. They will lead scientific and technical research and development in radiotherapy physics to support the clinical priorities of the Radiotherapy Department and will provide scientific support services to external organisations under service level agreements.
Due to the imminent retirement of the current Head, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Scientist to lead our Radiotherapy Physics team. The successful candidate will be an experienced scientist at consultant level with extensive experience in Radiotherapy Treatment Planning and Physical Dosimetry Services, and competence to act as a Medical Physicist Expert. They will have a strong interest in providing scientific leadership and strategic workforce development for the radiotherapy team in a rewarding senior position. Responsibilities
* Lead the Radiotherapy Physics Section in the delivery of comprehensive, highly specialist scientific and technical support services to the Clinical Radiotherapy Department.
* Lead scientific and technical research and development in the field of radiotherapy physics to support the clinical priorities of the Radiotherapy Department.
* Provide scientific support services to external organisations under service level agreements.
Qualifications
* Experienced scientist at consultant level with extensive experience in Radiotherapy Treatment Planning and Physical Dosimetry Services.
* Competence to act as a Medical Physicist Expert.
* Strong interest in providing scientific leadership and strategic workforce development for the radiotherapy team in a senior position.
