Operations Manager – Our Special Angels (OSA)
Location: Walsall & Birmingham
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per year (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time
About Us
Our Special Angels (OSA) is an Ofsted-registered organisation that creates specialist holiday and weekend clubs for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We work closely with a number of Birmingham special schools to plan and deliver high-quality clubs from their premises. We also run services from our own dedicated Walsall Centre, which features a soft play area and sensory rooms.
Our mission is simple: to create safe, joyful spaces where children can thrive and families receive the respite and support they need.
The Role
We are seeking a highly organised, passionate, and proactive Operations Manager to take the lead in running OSA's services day-to-day.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring that all clubs are planned, staffed, and delivered smoothly, while maintaining the highest standards of care and compliance.
You will work closely with our Co-Founder, and gradually take over the operational responsibilities, helping OSA grow to support even more SEND families across the region.
Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Strategy
* Oversee the planning and smooth delivery of all OSA clubs and services.
* Lead and inspire staff teams across multiple locations.
* Support OSA's mission and growth strategy as we expand into new schools and areas.
2. Staffing & HR
* Recruit, induct, and manage seasonal and permanent staff teams.
* Create and manage detailed rotas for holiday clubs and weekend sessions.
* Ensure all safer recruitment checks are completed, including enhanced DBS, references, and safeguarding training.
3. Compliance & Safeguarding
* Ensure services meet Ofsted standards and statutory regulations.
* Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
* Keep policies, risk assessments, and procedures updated and embedded in practice.
4. Parent & Community Engagement
* Manage parent communication and bookings, including through Jotform systems.
* Build strong relationships with schools, local councils, and community partners.
* Represent OSA at meetings and events to strengthen partnerships.
5. Finance & Funding
* Support with funding bids, tenders, and audits.
* Monitor budgets and service sustainability.
* Oversee invoicing, payments, and financial reporting.
6. Service Delivery & Quality
* Ensure every club session is safe, enriching, and inclusive.
* Oversee activity planning, including sensory play, ABA-inspired sessions, and themed events.
* Conduct regular quality checks and feedback reviews to continually improve services.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in managing services for children or young people with SEND.
* Highly organised with excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledgeable about Ofsted compliance and safeguarding.
* Confident communicating with staff, parents, schools, and local authorities.
* Passionate about improving the lives of SEND families.
* Flexible and fully available during school holiday periods.
Essential:
* Proven management experience.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
* Excellent IT and administrative skills.
* Annual leave must be taken outside of school holiday periods.
Important Annual Leave Policy
As OSA's services run primarily during school holiday periods, annual leave cannot be taken during these peak times. Leave must be scheduled during term-time to ensure full operational coverage.
Salary & Benefits
* £30,000 – £40, 000 per year, depending on experience.
* Opportunity to grow with the organisation and develop into senior leadership.
* Ongoing training and professional development.
* The chance to make a real difference to children with SEND and their families.
