Ivy House is a Supported Living Service located in Barnet for people with Learning Disabilities. The service has capacity for 7 people (currently supporting 5 adults) with their own individual rooms and shared facilities in the kitchen and the bathroom. People are supported to develop their daily living skills such as shopping, budgeting, attending health appointments and social events. Ivy House is located close to Barnet High Street which has a number of high street shops and has good transport links with buses and the underground train (High Barnet Station - Northern Line). The service is also located close to a park and a local museum which people can visit. The Role: We are providing individuals with practical and emotional care, enabling them to lead as ordinary life as they can achieve. To help them achieve this you will need to be flexible as you are required to work shifts including bank holidays, weekends and potential sleep ins. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To participate in the day to day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment. To maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families and others whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality. To support service users with the preparation of Meals, Laundry duties, cleaning and social events. To maintain accurate notes and records as and when required. To work as part of a team to provide high quality care. You will be covering our 3 Supported Living services, where a warm welcome awaits you. Offering a superior service to our young adults you'll be supporting Service Users with learning difficulties, mental health issues, behavioural difficulties, autism and physical disabilities. We are providing individuals with practical and emotional care, enabling them to lead as ordinary life as they can achieve. Personal Characteristics: Diploma in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards one. Experience in supporting adults with challenging behaviour, learning disabilities and/or mental health issues. The ability to keep calm under pressure. The confidence to work alone or as part of a team. Excellent communication skills The passion to work with vulnerable adults The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding.
