About the Role: Seeking an Art Teacher to join our team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), catering to KS3 and KS4 students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. The ideal candidate will work sensitively with students across the age and ability ranges.
Responsibilities:
1. Teach art effectively to students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, ensuring access to the curriculum through differentiated learning tasks.
2. Develop and deliver art curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
3. Implement behaviour modification, counselling, and therapeutic strategies to motivate students, improve application to learning, and raise their self-esteem.
4. Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues, parents, and other professionals to coordinate support for students' educational needs.
5. Stay updated on relevant developments in special educational needs provision and respond to directives to enhance service development.
Requirements:
6. Qualified teacher status with evidence of continuing professional development.
7. Experience teaching children with special educational needs, preferably in a PRU setting.
8. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals to maximise student's achievements.
9. Knowledge of behaviour modification strategies, therapeutic approaches, and the legislative framework related to special educational needs provision.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
