Service manager mental health

London
ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA
Service manager
Posted: 1 September
Offer description

Lead with care and confidence, helping to shape recovery-focused mental health support across our borough

As a Mental Health Service Manager, you'll lead with care and clarity - supporting your teams, shaping joined-up services and helping residents with complex needs live more independently.

Working Style:

You'll be based in the Borough for 5 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Flexible working will be reviewed and considered. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.

What you'll be doing:

This is a strategic leadership role where you'll take the lead on adult mental health social care across Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. You'll manage and support teams to meet their statutory responsibilities, including safeguarding, Care Act duties and Section 117 aftercare - always keeping the focus on high-quality, person-centred support.

You'll play a key role in making services work better for the people who use them - working closely with commissioners and partners across health, housing, legal services and the voluntary sector to shape clear pathways and integrated support. You'll also be responsible for leading the AMHP service and ensuring it operates safely, legally and effectively.

From chairing complex case conferences and managing complaints to overseeing budgets and supporting service development, you'll help drive progress and consistency across the board. And, as a visible and approachable leader, you'll guide and support managers across your team with regular supervision and hands-on guidance.

For further details, please review the Job Description and Person Specification

What you'll bring

You'll be a qualified social worker with current registration and experience as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP). You bring deep knowledge of relevant legislation - including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act - and understand what it takes to deliver high-quality support in complex, multi-agency settings.

We're looking for someone with a clear vision, calm leadership and the ability to influence and inspire others. You'll be confident managing services, supporting learning and development, and making tough decisions when needed - always grounded in professionalism and care. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset and confidence with data and performance systems are key.

Why join us

At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future.

This is your chance to shape and lead services that have a direct impact on the lives of adults with mental health needs across two diverse boroughs.

You'll join a supportive, committed and values-led leadership team. We work closely with our NHS partners, CNWL, and other agencies to make sure services are integrated, responsive and focused on recovery. With access to professional development and opportunities to shape new ways of working, you'll be supported to thrive in a role where your decisions truly matter.

What you do will directly improve how people are supported, and the impact will be felt across the services you lead and the lives you help shape.
