We are seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to be part of a new integrated Mental Health Team in Lewisham.
Main duties of the job
You will be amongst a Lewisham-wide team of Occupational Therapists and together will be responsible for the delivery of a recovery-focused OT interventions which addresses the needs of patients accessing mental health services, within a stepped care model.
The role could include professional development and integration to the neighbourhood team which includes case work, MDT formulation and assessment.

About the location: You will be based at Waldron Community Health Centre, Amersham Vale, Deptford, London, SE14 9LD, or at Southbrook Road where the neighbourhood 4 team also have their base.
About the team
This is an exciting development in Mental Health Service provision in Lewisham and an opportunity to work across the borough promoting the group programme and occupationally focused interventions. The service aims to provide proactive, strength-based care for service users experiencing mental health problems in a primary care setting using a stepped care model.
The Mental Health Teams provide care and support to service users who require a level of care above that available through general medical services and also secondary care mental health intervention.
The Primary Mental Health role incorporates interventions around social prescribing and care navigation, drawing on the expertise of third-sector partner providers. In addition to Occupational Therapy, the team comprises housing and welfare support, peer support, nurses, social workers, and a consultant psychiatrist.

Qualifications
* Registered Occupational Therapist;
* Post-graduate training relevant to Mental Health
Experience
* Significant clinical experience including individual and group work
* Experience of advising and supporting /supervising junior staff and students
* Working with mental health service users (pre or post qualification)
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and risk management
* High level understanding of Mental Health disorders and treatment models
* Applied knowledge of legislation relevant to Mental Health and Specialist practice where appropriate
* Applied knowledge of the principles of CPA (Care Programme Approach)
* Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions and outcome measures relevant to client group
* A sound understanding of the dynamics of a team and the ability to work effectively within that
