Claims Technician
This is a full-time, permanent role (Monday to Friday; 09:00 - 17:15) .
Relevant experience / transferable skills would be nice but is not essential for this trainee position.
The interested applicant must have at least grade C (4) for English Language & Maths GCSE (or equivalent).
Job purpose
To work towards providing a comprehensive claims reporting, chasing and advice service under the supervision of your Team Leader.
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Work as an effective member of the team
2. Work within Claims service standards
3. Uphold the Core Calues of the company at all times
4. Respond to enquiries from our agents, customers and underwriters in a courteous, confident and helpful manner
5. Ensure agents receive prompt and accurate advice on how to report a claim
6. Despatch required documentation in support of claims to insurers (or their representatives) without delay
7. Maintain client records with up-to-date claims history information, including updating settlement amounts paid
8. Advise agents of client's options regarding complaints procedures &/or FOS involvement should insurers repudiate liability or offer a lower-than-expected settlement amount
9. Negotiate with Insurers, as required, in relation to settlement of claims, both in respect of policy liability and settlement amount
10. Despatch client/agent claims settlement cheques received from Insurers on the day of receipt
11. Input data onto the office computer systems
12. Process workflow tasks
13. Display full understanding of standard policy cover across products
14. Display full understanding of schedule formats and endorsements applied within them
15. Display good knowledge of policy wordings for all markets
16. Cultivate relationships with Insurers, Agents & colleagues
17. Effectively manage workflow on a day-to-day basis
18. Ensure that full notes of conversations and actions are made on the diary system
19. Liaise with insurers and other third parties regarding the administration of client's insurance needs
20. Refer cases to your line manager where they are beyond your competency level or ability
21. Control your own diary system ensuring all items are followed up by the due dates
22. Check that all documentation is accurate, complete and sent in a reasonable timescale
23. Any other duties that may be required by your line manager in accordance with the nature of this job
24. To assist with the auditing of colleagues' work when required.
This job description may be amended as the Company develops and in conjunction with the post holder to meet the needs of the Company.
