What Is the Opportunity?
Our Corporate team offers bespoke insurance solutions to our largest and most complex clients in the UK and Ireland. We are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our UK or Ireland offices. You will be involved from early client engagement through collaboration with Risk Control, Claim, and other stakeholders in the UK and US. Your responsibilities include triaging new business opportunities, leading technical underwriting, managing large renewal accounts, and supporting regional underwriting teams. Travelers Europe offers flexible hybrid work arrangements. This role includes a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with potential referral bonuses.
What Will You Do?
1. Participate as an advisory/referral point to ensure responsible product development aligned with profit, growth, and retention strategies.
2. Engage actively in key case underwriting and new business initiatives.
3. Mentor and coach development underwriting staff to achieve standards and profitability goals.
4. Develop and leverage broker/client relationships through visibility and disciplined sales management.
5. Act as a large case expert internally and externally.
6. Assist in sector strategy development.
7. Encourage team efforts to meet underwriting, sales, and strategic goals.
8. Maintain collaborative relationships across departments.
9. Ensure policies are underwritten and documented in compliance with standards.
10. Develop broker/client relationships with strategic planning and follow-up.
11. Provide superior customer service.
12. Work strategically with brokers to meet business goals.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
* Strong analytical, judgment, decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Proven broker planning and engagement abilities.
* Customer focus and positive broker interaction skills.
* Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
* Advanced relationship management skills.
* ACII qualification preferred.
What is a Must Have?
* Experience in underwriting Property and Casualty classes.
* Experience managing large UK Corporate Clients.
