Are you someone who takes pride in keeping our communities clean and welcoming? Are you organised, reliable, and great at leading a team? If so, we’ve got just the role for you!
We are looking for a Waste Services Supervisor to join our frontline services team, working alongside dedicated staff to deliver a cleaner, safer environment across the district. You’ll be supported by an experienced Operations Manager, and your role will focus on managing daily operations, including rotas, staff supervision (both permanent and agency), and ensuring the timely completion of scheduled cleaning tasks.
This is a key role, helping to maintain the high standards our residents and visitors expect. You’ll be monitoring performance, providing one-to-one feedback, and ensuring that health and safety procedures are always followed to the letter — including incident and near-miss reporting.
You’ll need excellent IT skills, confidence in using Microsoft Office, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels. If you’ve previously worked with route planning or digital tracking systems, that’s a bonus – but it’s not essential. What matters most is your ability to lead a team, work flexibly and remain calm under pressure.
Why Join Us?
At South Hams District Council, you’ll be part of a team that values safety, supports professional development, and fosters a supportive and inclusive work culture. We are also committed to addressing climate change and ensuring all staff play a part in sustainable service delivery.
South Hams District Council is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
