Job overview
The Specialist Perinatal Health Visitor on Chamomile Suite will be responsible for co-ordinating and overseeing the health, wellbeing and development needs of babies on the ward. They will work within the Multi -disciplinary team to identify such needs and provide key specialist knowledge and experience. The post holder will be responsible for communicating appropriately with other services, such as community perinatal mental health services, health visiting services, GP’s, schools etc – to ensure effective collaborative working during the inpatient stay and plan safe discharge.
Main duties of the job
* To liaise with other members of the clinical team regarding the 24-hour spectrum of care.
* To participate in multi-professional team meetings, handover meetings and other opportunities for feedback and discussion, as required.
* To contribute to education programmes organised by the service
* To lead on ‘Baby Clinic’, overseeing the baby’s development, plotting their weight, identifying and actioning any concerns, documenting this appropriately and liaising with the allocated Health Visitor.
* Attending to statutory Health Visitor guidance where a mother and baby are admitted to the unit ‘out of area’
* To assist in the organisation and planning of structured groups for service users and their children.
* To take part in activities designed to assess and enhance mother/infant relationship e.g., gradual exposure programmes, baby massage, Watch me play! PIIOS (Parent Infant Interaction Observations Scale), VIG (Video Interaction Guidance), Sensory Play
* To advise, encourage, support, and supervise mother, when required, in all aspects of childcare and development, e.g., weaning, play, sterilising and preparation of feeds.
* To provide advice and support of the partners and families of service users.
* To contribute to reports for use in court proceedings, etc. when required.

All successful applicants will be required to complete the Trust’s induction programme. The Fundamental (Statutory and Mandatory) training will be in an e-learning format. You will be required to complete training modules online (approx. 9-14 hours depending on post) by the end of your second week with us.
