Connect2Hackney is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Teacher to join our Early Years & Play team. This is a pivotal role where you will champion high-quality care and education for children 0 to 5 years, ensuring they get the best possible start in life. About the Role As a Children's Centre Early Years Teacher, you will work in partnership with parents and early years practitioners to draft and advise on curriculum policies, monitoring their effect to ensure effective practice is developed and sustained. You will be responsible for creating an attractive and cared-for environment that allows children to feel relaxed, motivated to explore, and independent. Furthermore, you will support the development of the Centre as a community resource, ensuring that services are provided in accordance with our commitment to high-quality service provision. Key Responsibilities Curriculum Leadership: In consultation with the Head of Centre, you will develop the Early Years Curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and lead the planning of appropriate learning activities. Team Development: You will work with the staff team to monitor and evaluate the quality of learning experiences, providing models of good practice and supporting individual staff to meet required standards. You will also assist in planning and delivering in-service training based on up-to-date theories and best practices. Inclusion & Support: You will work within the Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs, differentiating the curriculum to ensure accessibility for all children. You will also ensure children are shown respect for their languages, religions, cultures, and family diversity. Partnership with Parents: You will lead on developing partnerships with parents/carers, consulting them on their child's progress through daily contact, review meetings, and workshops. Safeguarding: You will promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, monitoring those subject to inter-agency child protection plans in accordance with the Children's Act 1989. About You We are looking for a candidate with a commitment to valuing diversity and challenging discriminatory actions. You must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to write clearly and succinctly. Essential Criteria: Qualifications: You must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Experience: You must have post-qualifying experience in teaching 3-5 year olds. Knowledge: You need a strong knowledge of how children learn in the early years and child development from birth to 5 years. You must also understand strategies to support positive behaviour. Skills: You must have the ability to ensure that all children with Special Needs gain full access to the curriculum. Working with Us This role requires flexibility; staff must be able to work outside normal office hours and occasionally take on other duties as demanded by the service. You will be expected to participate in one-to-one supervisions and appraisals to promote your own personal and professional development.
