Offer Description
Proteotype Diagnostics Ltd is recruiting a Doctoral Candidate (DC14) as part of the HER-CARE Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network (MSCA-DN), a European programme focused on improving outcomes in hereditary and early‑stage breast cancer.
The successful candidate will be employed by Proteotype Diagnostics and enrolled as a PhD candidate at the Medical University of Vienna (Austria) under the primary academic supervision of Dr. Yen Tan.
The project focuses on the development and validation of circulating proteomic biomarkers for early breast cancer detection and prediction of treatment response, integrating molecular, clinical, and epidemiological data.
Key Research Areas
* Detection of early‑stage (Stage I–III) breast cancer
* Analysis of biomarker dynamics during systemic and neoadjuvant therapies
* Prediction of pathological complete response (pCR)
* Integration of proteomic, clinical, and epidemiological datasets
* Mechanistic interpretation of biomarker signals
Selected samples will undergo advanced mass spectrometry–based proteomics in collaboration with academic partners at the Medical University of Vienna.
The doctoral candidate will benefit from interdisciplinary training across the HER‑CARE network, including collaboration with leading academic, clinical, and industry partners across Europe.

Requirements
Research Field: Master Degree or equivalent
Skills / Qualifications
* MSc (or equivalent) in:
o bioinformatics
o computational biology
o biomedical sciences
o data science
o or related field
* Experience in:
o data analysis / statistics
o programming (Python, R or similar)
* Experience in:
o wet laboratory work including HPLC
o proteomics
o machine learning
o multi‑omics data integration
o oncology or clinical datasets
Specific Requirements
Applicants must:
* Not already hold a doctoral degree (PhD)
* Be eligible for enrolment in a PhD programme at the Medical University of Vienna
Mobility Rule
Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the United Kingdom for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately prior to the recruitment date.
