Nick J. Ryan & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking an Attorney to join the Fort Lauderdale Claim Litigation office. The role involves case ownership, participating in litigation events, and meeting with clients. We encourage a collaborative environment where attorneys can assist each other and access support staff while maintaining ownership of their files. Our attorneys have the opportunity to strategize on trial and case development without hourly billing constraints. State Farm fosters an environment inclusive of career development opportunities. This position is classified as a hybrid role, requiring hours both in the office and virtually, with the possibility of work arrangement changes based on business needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
1. Handle litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law Department
2. Prepare and summarize reports for proceedings
3. Trial strategy and case development
4. Attend litigation events including trials, mediations, depositions, and hearings
Qualifications
Previous experience required
* 2+ years of experience in litigation, preferably in insurance defense dealing with bodily injury, medical malpractice, and personal injury, or experience as an Assistant Public Defender or Assistant State Attorney
* First-Chair Trial experience is preferred
Key Skills Required
* Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law
* Trial, mediation, and deposition experience
* File ownership
* Effective written and oral communication skills
Technology/software Experience Required
* Ability to work efficiently with cases in electronic form
* Working knowledge of a Case Management system
* Working knowledge of a Document Storage system
Education requirements including licenses and certifications
* J.D. from an ABA-accredited Law School with excellent academic credentials
* Active law license to practice in Florida and in good standing with the Florida Bar

* Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. immediately; no sponsorship provided
* Outside legal practice must cease before joining State Farm
* Travel to job-related activities is required
* Irregular hours may be necessary

We prioritize work-life balance with a standard 38:45-hour work week and a potential starting salary range of $104,000 - $160,000, based on experience.
