Overview
Cambridgeshire Constabulary is recruiting transferees and re-joiners for the Detective Constable pathway from Home Office police forces. We will not consider applications from officers at Sergeant or higher ranks. Upcoming transferee intakes are 22 September 2025 and 22 February 2026. We are actively building a diverse workforce representative of the community we serve and value local partnership work to tackle crime and protect victims.
Responsibilities
* Join the Protecting Vulnerable People Command, including Child Abuse Investigations (CAISU) and Rape Investigations (RIT), and contribute to serious and complex investigations working with multi‑agency partners to safeguard the most vulnerable.
* Work within Cambridgeshire Constabulary's North/South operating model, supporting policing activity that reduces threat, risk and harm and allocates resources based on demand.
* Engage with victims and handle crime-related risks with professionalism, building trust with communities, especially young people and marginalised groups, and using interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and enhance engagement via appropriate channels.
* Collaborate with partner agencies to identify and resolve local problems and design community engagement plans that reflect diverse communities and the needs of vulnerable people.
* Support neighbourhood policing and investigations as part of the T/DC pathway, and contribute to an ethos of protecting the vulnerable across policing activity.
* Selection criteria: we will consider existing Detective Constables, Trainee Detective Constables or Police Constables who wish to join the T/DC pathway from Home Office forces; we will not consider applicants at Sergeant or higher ranks.
* Intake dates for transferees: 22 September 2025 and 22 February 2026.
Requirements
* Experience as Detective Constable, Trainee Detective Constable, or Police Constable with interest in transferring to Cambridgeshire Constabulary via the T/DC pathway from Home Office forces.
