FPSG's client, with ongoing expansion, is establishing a new engineering hub. They develop powerful, scalable software that sets new industry standards. They are pioneers in AI-augmented engineering, utilizing intelligent agentic solutions to design, develop, and deliver software.
In this AI Engineering role, the key responsibilities will include:
* Contributing to the design of multi-agent systems with coding-focused agents (code writing, reviewing, testing)
* Constructing prompts, logic, and scaffolding to guide agent behavior
* Managing AI tools to enable agents to access file systems, test runners, version control, and APIs
* Evaluating and improving agents' output, performance, collaboration, and feedback loops
* Prototyping new coding assistant workflows using open-source LLMs
* Participating in architecture discussions on agentic build pipelines
* Contributing to AI-powered interfaces for internal tooling
To be successful, you should demonstrate:
* At least 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with familiarity in a tech stack such as Java, TypeScript, React, MySQL
* Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools like Windsurf, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Enterprise ChatGPT
* Practical experience with agentic AI modification via LangChain / LangGraph
* Exposure to LLM APIs, codegen platforms, vector databases, and agent frameworks (highly desired)
* A disruptor mindset and interest in impactful solutions
* A passion for experimentation, iteration, and continuous learning
This role emphasizes applying AI tools in real-world development workflows, not AI research. Hands-on experience with AI in software development is essential.
Note: Hybrid working is flexible, but candidates should be within easy commuting distance of Manchester or Glasgow. Due to data sensitivity, this role is UK-only, and the client currently does not offer visa sponsorship.
