Housing Officer - Tenancy Management
Location: Birmingham (with travel across the region)
Contract: Temporary ongoing - minimum 3 months
Hourly Rate: £20.00 - £25.00 per hour
Are you an experienced housing professional passionate about supporting tenants, addressing anti-social behaviour, and making a positive impact in local communities?
We are recruiting a Temporary Housing Officer focusing on Tenancy Services to join a well-respected housing provider in Birmingham.
This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable customers and contribute to high-quality housing management services on a short-term basis.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Managing a diverse caseload covering tenancy sustainment, mutual exchanges, successions, and tenancy changes.
2. Supporting officers with ASB and safeguarding casework, home visits, and installing noise monitoring equipment.
3. Acting as a key contact for tenants, resolving issues at first contact, and preventing repeat queries.
4. Monitoring starter and assured shorthold tenancies, ensuring legal compliance (including right-to-rent checks).
5. Accurately recording activity and supporting administrative tasks such as subject access requests and rota coordination.
6. Reporting safeguarding concerns appropriately and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners.
What we’re looking for:
1. Recent experience in a housing or customer service role, ideally within social housing.
2. Strong understanding of tenancy management processes and relevant legislation.
3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to empathise, support, and problem-solve effectively.
4. Competence in using housing management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
5. Full driving licence and willingness to travel across operational areas when needed.
