Senior Shift Engineer (Mechanical) – Leeds Oncology, Leeds
EQUANS seeks a Senior Shift Engineer (Mechanical) for its Leeds Oncology contract. The position is a permanent, full‑time role with a 4 on/4 off shift pattern (06:00‑18:00, 18:00‑06:00). A competitive salary and benefits package is offered.
Overview
Work with a dynamic maintenance team to deliver the highest standard of service in the Leeds Oncology Wing. Provide responsive, customer‑facing maintenance and undertake a wide range of reactive and planned tasks.
Responsibilities
* Lead and support the shift team of Maintenance Craftsman and Maintenance Assistants.
* Carry out maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection of building, mechanical and electrical services, plant and equipment.
* Participate in a rotating shift pattern to provide 24/7/365 service.
* Provide cover for absent colleagues to maintain service continuity.
* Perform duties in accordance with safe working practices and statutory, NHS, Trust and Company guidelines.
* Maintain, service and repair a wide range of building services, including heating, domestic water, electrical lighting, air‑handling units, low‑voltage distribution, emergency standby generators, fire alarms, emergency lighting, electrical control systems and the Building Management System.
* Maintain records, complete service reports and provide regular progress reports to the line manager.
* Occasionally carry out installation work for minor upgrades and adaptations.
* Assist other skilled trades with maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation work.
* Undertake training to maintain and develop skills in line with service requirements.
* Act as a Competent or Authorised Person when directed.
* Liaise and undertake duties at other healthcare projects as directed.
* Undertake overtime as required to maintain the service.
* Carry out any other duties as required commensurate with grade.
Qualifications
* Qualified time‑served engineer with a minimum of 3 years post‑apprenticeship experience.
* Healthcare experience desirable but not essential.
* Cross‑trade experience advantageous.
