Pastoral Teaching Assistant We are working on behalf of an alternative provision in Preston to support the recruitment of a committed and compassionate Pastoral Teaching Assistant. Location: Preston Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm Pay: Dependent on skills and experience An alternative provision in Burnley is looking to appoint a Pastoral Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated pastoral care to students with a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting young people who may struggle to thrive in a mainstream setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and supported throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities: Offer daily pastoral support to students, helping to create a positive and nurturing environment. Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils, promoting emotional resilience and self-esteem. Work closely with teaching staff, support workers and external professionals to ensure the holistic needs of each student are met. Contribute to behaviour management and intervention strategies using a restorative and trauma-informed approach. Assist with the development and delivery of personalised support plans tailored to individual student needs. What We’re Looking For: Experience working with young people, ideally within a school, alternative provision, or similar setting. A calm, patient and empathetic approach. Understanding of SEMH needs, safeguarding practices, and the importance of pastoral care. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
