Automation Project Engineer - The Role:
* Take responsibility for delivering small projects
* Carry out support of existing installations across the UK & advise on expansions
* Specify, configure and test programmable industrial control and information systems
* Prepare design specifications, network architectures and test procedures
* Undertake assessments of client systems and procedures against best practice
This role will have responsibility for delivering small projects and supporting existing installations, reporting directly to the Operations Director. Engineers experience the full system life cycle; from conceptual studies, through detailed design, to on-site commissioning and support.
To be successful, applicants must be able to demonstrate a passion for developing effective, maintainable solutions based on 'open' technologies. Understand the principles of: databases, networks, virtual machines, PLC, SCADA and distributed control systems. The broader range of technology you have experience of, the better. Key to this role is having the capability to work out software/hardware you may not have encountered before. This position will involve working on smaller projects - upgrades/modifications - with plenty of reverse engineering.
Automation Project Engineer - The Person:
* Hold a formal engineering qualification in a relevant subject
* Experience of designing process control and/or safety systems
* Keen interest and aptitude for software and application development
* Proficient in common desktop computer packages and operating systems
* Comfortable interfacing with client personnel at all levels
* Show enthusiasm and the ability to learn quickly
Candidates will need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic and good at communicating.
c25% site work is required, generally a couple of days every couple of weeks. The majority of the clients are within a 2 hour drive of the office, however you will have to be prepared to travel across the UK with the occasional night away from home.
They work on a hybrid model. Monday & Wednesday in the office, rest of the week from home. Keen to champion Engineers who wish to achieve Chartered status. Any qualifications with TUV, Cyber Security, IT/OT highly advantageous. In a growing SME with serious ambitions, the right individual could advance from this role to a senior level.
Located in Cheshire, this role would be commutable from Manchester, Stockport, Oldham, Warrington & Bolton.
